A curriculum is designed for bridge course, remedial classes, enrichment classes. Department collected feedbacks from students, parents, academic peers, employer etc. about the curriculum.
Teaching-Learning and Evaluation: Department conducts bridge course for newly admitted students, Conducting remedial classes for weak students, Conducting enrichment classes for advanced learners, Organizing seminars, group discussions by involving students, Arranging guest lectures, Surprised oral interaction about the concerned topics, Using ICT (LCD, OHP) for teaching in the class,
Research and Consultancy: One faculty member has applied for Minor Research Project funded by UGC, Faculty members are carrying research projects involving students funded by the college and from the contribution of faculty, Worked as an evaluator at KUD and Rani Channamma University Belagavi, One faculty member worked as a squad member in KUD examinations.
Trends in the success and drop out rates of students in the past two years.
The success rate is presently 80%. The drop out rate is 28% (the drop out primarily is due to their getting a seat in D.Ed course, which gives them the early job opportunity. Organizing study tours, field visits for students to get practical knowledge. Guiding the students for higher studies/jobs etc.
Innovative practices: Faculty members present research papers in the seminars/workshops, Collecting feedback about curriculum, college, course, teachers from students, parents, employers and subject peers.
Plan of action of the department for the next five years: Plan to apply for major and minor research projects, Plan to organize study tours, Plan to arrange guest lectures, Plan to organize the national level seminar.
One Day Workshop
A One day workshop on Basic Research Analysis using MS Excel was organised by the Department of Sociology on 14th October 2019 under the supervision of Dr. Ruqqia. Km Atiq-ur-Rehman was the Resource Person.
Guest Lecture
Department of Sociology organised a Guest Lecture on ‘Rural Sociology’ on 18th January 2021. Retired Prof & Head of Department of Sociology Anjuman Arts & Commerce College, Belagavi was the Chief Guest. Prof.N.J.Kattimani opined that Rural sociology is a field of sociology traditionally associated with the study of social structure and conflict in rural areas although topical areas such as food and agriculture or natural resource access transcend traditional rural spatial boundaries. Sir slso highlighted on the importance of studying Sociology. He said studying sociology is beneficial both for the individual and for society. By studying sociology people learn how to think critically about social issues and problems that confront our society. The study of sociology enriches students’ lives and prepares them for careers in an increasingly diverse world.Dr. A. B. Shaikh Head-Dept of Sociology presided over the , Dr. Ruqqia Hashmi proposed vote of thanks, Km. Md. Saqlain of BA 1st Sem recited Verses of the Holy Quran. The day ended with National Anthem.
