The department of Education was established in the year 1973.At present, the department is headed by Prof S. S. Peerzade.
The department offers B.A with Education as one of the 03 subjects of equal importance.
Designing of curriculum is in the purview of university to which college is affiliated, hence we follow the syllabus framed by university.Faculty member attended curriculum construction workshop organized by P. G. Department of Education Karnataka University Dharwad and Rani Channama University, Belgavi.Attended the workshop and prepared the syllabus for B.A. I for Rani Channama University, Belgavi. Staff member is involved in preparing time table, calendar of events , Bridge course. Computer is used for preparing the units. Magazines are used as reference material. Use of LCD and LED by teacher as well as students. Department is also involved in arranging Guest lectures, students in projects. Use of departmental library to alumnies also. Guided students in preparing Question Bank in Education subject.
Research, Consultancy and Extension:
The faculty involves the students in various projects which helps in social and intellectual development of studnts. Some of the important projects undertaken are Nali-Kali project implemented in Ist and IInd Standerd, Midday meals and it’s impact. Study of education system in central schools and in a Vihara. Comparative study of Education in Ancient and Medieval period. Worked as guest faculty at the Anjuman-e-Islam’s College Of Education Bijapur.
The faculty also a N S S Officer is involved in various activities like arranging special camps, medical camps, blood donation camp, flood relief activities etc. Department has library with 200 books to fulfill the needs. Department is also involved in community services like creating awareness amongst the people about Education. Students visit the selected locality every year in the month ofApril/May to know number of children to be admitted in the schools.In the month of July again they visit same locality to see how many of them admitted. If not reason for that and its possible solution
Departments next five year plan is to apply for MRPs, to organize the visits to important educational institutios and to the places of educational importance, to organize national level seminar an to conduct more survey works.
